The Towersey Foundation Charity Concert 18th June
Fri 15 Apr 2011
The Towersey Foundation is a local charity
founded some 10 years ago by Ann Daymond, then a resident in Highweek. The
Foundation funds Music Therapy in palliative care and has successfully placed
therapists in many hospices up and down the country. In addition it now
funds therapists who visit Care and Residential homes on a regular basis ,
mainly in and around the Newton Abbot and Bovey area.
A Charity Concert is being held at Stover School
on Saturday June 18th when the pianist Nicholas McCarthy will perform. He has
kindly offered to give his services free on this occasion. Nicholas who is 22
only took up the piano at the age of 14 and has already passed through the
Junior Department of the Guildhall School of Music winning the Annual Piano
Prize just before he left in 2008. Since then he has been studying at the Royal
College of Music where he presently is. He has given numerous recitals
throughout the UK
and has 6 booked for this year.
What makes Nicholas so special is that he was
born without his right hand. Happily there is a great deal of music written for
single hands and his programme includes work by Bach, Liszt, Scriabin and
Reinecke.
It is our belief that we are witnessing the
start of a wonderful musical career and hope that we see as many people as
possible at Stover
School on 18th June,
7.30pm.
Tickets at £10 can be obtained from David
Winckles at 01626 832479 and Tony Brooks-Daw at 01803 812100.
