Moorcar Club comes to Bovey Tracey!

Residents of Bovey Tracey now have access to a low cost hire car 24 hours a day - and can help reduce the town's carbon footprint while they use it.
Bovey Climate Action have teamed up with Dartmoor National Park Authority, and Moorcar, the not-for-profit car share club, to bring two share cars to Bovey Tracey - a Honda Civic 1.7 CDTi and a Vauxhall Corsa 1.3 CDTi.
This will help reduce the carbon footprint from cars in Bovey Tracey and across Dartmoor. At the same time, it will make travel easier and cheaper for people without access to a car.
One car is to be parked at Dartmoor Garages, and is available to members 24 hours a day, every day. Dartmoor National Park Authority will use the other car as a pool vehicle from its headquarters at Parke during working hours. Bovey Tracey Moorcar members can use it in the evenings and at weekends.
Jeremy Farr the Moorcar co-ordinator said: "Joining Moorcar is an easy and affordable way to save money, have access to a car when you need it, and reduce your carbon footprint. If you only make a few journeys every week, why pay out for all the hassle of running your own car? No more bills for tax and insurance, breakdown cover, MOT and repairs, Moorcar does all that. You can join for as little as £50 and then you only pay for the hours and miles you drive. One of the cars costs only £2 per hour, and 17p mileage". Moorcar is going from strength to strength, and has seven cars in Ashburton, Buckfastleigh, Chagford, South Brent and now Bovey Tracey."
Andrew Shadrake, from Bovey Climate Action, said "This is a great example of how Bovey Climate Action is trying to help people save money at the same time as they reduce carbon emissions. We think it will appeal particularly to people who cannot afford their own car, as well as couples where one person takes the car to work, leaving the other without an easy way to travel."
