New leader sought for Bovey neighbourhood watch forum

Thu 15 May 2014

The Cottage columnist Cllr Tony Allen has decided to step down as the Leader of the Bovey Tracey Neighbourhood Watch (NHW) Forum, a role he’s been carrying out for over 8 years. He feels it’s now appropriate for someone else to take over as Forum Leader, and would be happy to receive any approaches from or about anyone who might be prepared to do this. Tony says “being Forum Leader is a good way to get to know people in the town. For a young person it would be a useful community volunteering qualification to have on a CV. I’d certainly be prepared to make introductions to the existing thirty or so NHW co-ordinators in Bovey Tracey to help get someone started”.

As long as Tony remains a Town Councillor, he intends to stay a member of the Forum however, and the council’s official representative on it. This formalises the relationship of NHW with the council, which enables offering free accommodation for meetings, a facility that is appreciated by the NHW groups.

This is a genuine opportunity for someone out there to get involved in a useful community activity. Please contact Tony by email at nhw.bowdens@btinternet.com or via the Town Hall on 01626 834217, or on 01626 836239, if you are interested. Alternatively, mention your interest to one of the local police team (PCSO Paul Wilson, PCSO Tina Jordan or PC Lawrence Wills) who will be pleased to advise you.

The Cottage Magazine will report back on progress in the next edition.
