The Labour Party at the heart of TQ13
Tue 12 Jul 2011
The Labour Party is alive and kicking in TQ13. There is a devoted and passionate group of
locals ready to represent our Labour supporters. Our presence is set to get stronger. Our full thanks to everyone who voted for us
at the local elections, this vote of confidence has given us real impetus.
Some people are clear that Labour is the party for
them. During my recent campaign, some
voters felt unsure what Labour would look like locally. As a local party we are underpinned by the
philosophy that:
‘by the strength of
our common endeavour we achieve more than we achieve alone&.a community in
which power, wealth and opportunity are in the hands of the many and not just
the few& where the we live together, freely, in a spirit of solidarity,
tolerance and respect.’
We would like to bring this to our policies and actions in
the TQ13 area. Checking that all voices
in the communities are heard (not just the loudest), ensuring that wherever
possible funds are equally spread and our communities are cohesive and not
divisive. We have many ideas for the
future. Locally we already plan to:
- stand
dedicated candidates for future elections
- work
with local elected councillors on issues that our members care about
In the spirit of Labour we would like your
help to create our plan for the future by:
- Gathering
supporters’ and members’ views on issues close to their heart
- Giving
feedback and clear messages to the national party
- Engaging
our supporters through listening and a schedule of events
We already have a healthy number of members locally, but if
you would like to join the Labour Party please go to https://secure2.labour.org.uk/join/. You will find a friendly and enthusiastic
group of members in your local area.
If you would like to find out more or let us know what you
would like the Labour Party to do in this area, please e mail our Secretary Ted
Clapton on andt@btinternet.com (or
by phone if e mail is unavailable on 01647 252310).
Labour would like to connect with its local voters. There are no alliances with other political
parties. We want to encourage Labour
voters and sympathisers to vote directly for Labour and not become fragmented. There are a sizeable number of us. We wish to coordinate our voters to have a
clear and powerful voice in our own political landscape.
